Profile of Michael McKernan
Michael McKernan received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego in 1996 with a BA in History. Mr. McKernan received his law degree from the University of San Diego in 2001. During law school Mr. McKernan was a board member of the Pro-Bono Legal Advocates and the Student Bar Association. Mr. McKernan is a member of the California Bar Association, Washington DC Bar Association and Washington State Bar Associaton. Mr. McKernan is a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the California Bar Association.
Mr. McKernan joined Murphy and Beane in 2002. Mr. McKernan represents both employers and insurance carriers in Workers’ Compensation matters including pre-trial litigation at deposition, medical cross-examinations, at trial and in post- trial matters involving petitions for reconsideration. Further, Mr. McKernan represents employers in 132(a) and Serious and Willful matters at the Workers Compensation Appeals Board throughout the state.
Mr. McKernan’s clients include professional sports teams which he represents in professional athlete litigation before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Mr. McKernan vigorously his client’s against out of state applicant’s seeking benefits within the state of California.
Michael is a California State Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation.
Mr. McKernan successfully represented his client in a case published in the Workers’ Compensation Reporter, Melvin Isaac v. Paramount Pictures (2011) 13 WCAB Rptr. 13,218.
